Monet: The Artist at Home and In His Own Words

Commentary  by Paul Clement

Paul Clement is an artist and scholar living in Philaldelphia. He studied  in Britain under John Guthrie, at the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Art and  with  Evangelos Frudakis at the Frudakis Academy of Fine Arts in Philadelphia. Mr.Clement specializes in line drawings and watercolors and his work has been exhibited at the Newman Gallery and other venues in the city. Paul Clement  is a member of the Sketch and Plastic Clubs in Philadelphia and has won several awards, most recently, the Outstanding Achievment Award  from the Plastic Club. Mr Clement has begun to accept portrait commissions.

Course Description:

Teachers have the challenging task of  helping their students understand historical and cultural perspectives  on art and their impact on society.This course has been designed in the style of an online art exhibit by artist Paul Clement in order to assist teachers accomplish these goals while retaining student interest. It  presents  unique insights into Monet's own private views on art ;  his thoughts about his beloved home at Giverny and his opinions about his contemporaries, Van Gogh and Gauguin. This multi-media course requires high speed internet. ( 15 hours)
